News on what's new with SkyCop

Winter, 2010 – City of Millington Now Has LPR Capabilities

What does the City of Millington in Tennessee and its largest neighbor, City of Memphis, have in common? The answer is state-of-the-art license plate reader technology (LPR) on the move in patrol cars. The City of Millington recently purchased and installed SkyCop® technology on one of its patrol cars that allows officers to more effectively monitor for stolen cars, expired tags, and criminal activity in general. This capability allows Millington’s 16 patrol officers to access Memphis Police Department’s databases, in addition to other surrounding law enforcement agencies, and pull data that helps the officer to make the best decisions to prevent crimes and enforce the law.

Spring, 2010 – SkyCop® Technology Enhances Homeland Security and Law Enforcement on the Border

El Paso Police Department in Texas is fighting the war on terror, drug trafficking, and illegal immigration with SkyCop® LPR technology. El Paso law enforcement leaders saw the capability of mobile LPR and how effective ongoing surveillance and patterning criminal activity can be during crime prevention. The initiative has far exceeded expectations, and now El Paso is planning additional expansion of LPR and other SkyCop® technology capabilities in the future.

Spring, 2010 – Shelby County in Tennessee Is Now Accessing SkyCop® Technology

Shelby County in Tennessee recently purchased SkyCop® LRP for three police cruisers and a SkyCop® Cadet Trailer System to enhance patrolling and data integration capabilities with surrounding law enforcement agencies. This initiative will allow the sheriff’s department to access real-time data from award-winning Memphis PD’s Real Time Crime Center also in Shelby County, Tennessee. Area law enforcement strongly believes the recent acquisition of SkyCop® technology will greatly enhance law enforcement coordination in the area between the county and the Memphis Police Department.

Spring, 2010 – SkyCop® Is Now Protecting Olive Branch, Mississippi

The City of Olive Branch Police Department in Mississippi recently purchased SkyCop® LPR technology that will allow officers to monitor criminal activity. Olive Branch can now read license plates and access and analyze other law enforcement data from other surrounding agencies to pattern criminal behavior. Even in small-town America like Olive Branch, there is a need to protect the community with LPR technology that can enhance the safety of the streets.
